CD-Release Konzert: Hohenstaufen Ensemble
6 pm
Robert Kahn & Johannes Brahms piano trios
Concert | Chamber Music | CD Release

Robert Kahn is Rahel Rilling's great-grandfather. He was born in Mannheim in 1865 and was a student of Johannes Brahms. Many parallels and yet also contrasts can be discovered in the two piano trios by these two composers.
Later Kahn became a university professor in Berlin and was chairman of the Prussian Academy of Arts. Because of his Jewish roots, he fled to England in 1938, where he died in 1951.
With her project #respondinmusic, Annika Treutler has been committed to rediscovering the music of composers forgotten by the Holocaust for some time.
Bringing the music and history of Robert Kahn back to light is an important contribution for the three musicians to not forget and to look towards a responsible future.
