LISBETH
Cultural venue, café, and meeting place with a cozy garden
LISBETH is a cemetery café and cultural venue located in the former administration building at Sophien II Cemetery in Berlin-Mitte. LISBETH was founded in September 2022 as an initiative of Kultur Büro Elisabeth with the vision of developing the listed building into a meeting place and space for culture. The café and the caretaker's house opposite host exhibitions, readings, workshops, and concerts that open up new perspectives on death and mourning culture.
LISBETH places a special focus on pastoral care and grief work. In cooperation with the Evangelical Church Parish at Weinberg and qualified grief counselors, discussion groups, mourning rituals, and consultation hours are offered, which are open to all interested parties regardless of religious affiliation.
Since May 2024, Chiara de Martin Topranin has been responsible for the gastronomic offerings at LISBETH. In the café and in the natural garden, northern Italian specialties delight both body and soul.
The current cultural and pastoral program can be found in the LISBETH-Veranstaltungskalender, in our LISBETH Leporello, on Instagram and in our newsletter, which you can subscribe to here.
