Musica Fiata & La Capella Ducale: Claudio Monteverdi – Vespro della Beata Vergine 1650 (Vespers of the Blessed Virgin)

Friday, 26. Jun 2026

7 p.m.

St. Elisabeth

Musica Fiata is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a Marian Vespers in honor of Claudio Monteverdi.

The publisher Alessandro Vincenti described the collection of church music he published in 1650—seven years after Monteverdi’s death—as “sacred relics of the works of our excellent Monteverdi.”

From this collection, Musica Fiata, under the direction of Roland Wilson, has compiled a complete set of Marian Vespers. The program includes, among other works, a reconstruction of the missing parts of *Lauda Jerusalem* as well as one of the recently rediscovered settings of the *Salve Regina*. Monteverdi’s works are complemented by compositions by some of his contemporaries.
