Maul & Schrammek: "Crazy about Bach" – Live podcast

St. Elisabeth

live podcast

For five years, Michael Maul and Bernhard Schrammek have been talking about Johann Sebastian Bach every week on MDR Klassik's "Bach Channel."

On March 28, Michael Maul and Bernhard Schrammek will stop off at St. Elisabeth as part of their live tour, where they will talk about Bach and present some of their favorite arias from his cantatas.

At the beginning of their podcast series, the two journalists raved about all of their idol's sacred and secular cantatas, then continued with podcasts on orchestral and chamber music works, the Passions and the B minor Mass, as well as selected episodes from Bach's life. Maul & Schrammek explain historical contexts, point out musical highlights, and attempt to interpret the texts, but above all, they repeatedly kneel before the musical refinements that Bach offers them and all of us. Bach fans throughout Germany and beyond have now made listening to the Bach channel a habit.

During their live performance at St. Elisabeth Church, they will be accompanied musically by a small but fine ensemble conducted by Elina Albach.

But be warned: Maul & Schrammek are terrible at hiding their enthusiasm for their master's musical wonders. There is a high risk of contagion!
