Jefta van Dinther: Unearth
4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. respectively
Dance | Revival | Durational Performance
In a minimalist choreography for body and voice, Berlin-based choreographer Jefta van Dinther explores the human desire to revive and relive the past. In a durational performance, ten dancers discover the seemingly inexhaustible psychological and physical ingenuity of our bodies. The intensity of the repetition captivates the audience and invites them to linger in introspective contemplation. "Unearth" explores the body as material and highlights belonging, meaning, and mortality as social and spiritual constructs. Unearth premiered as part of Tanz im August 2022. The revival of the work marks the start of a retrospective of Jefta van Dinther's work in November at HAU1 and HAU2, in which selected works by the choreographer and dancer since 2010 will be presented.
