Ensemble Apparat: Shovels | Brayen — Rain

Apparat presents a full-length version of Max Murray's composition Schaufeln | Brayen — Rain for large brass ensemble, two sopranos, harp, percussion, and electronics. The piece will be performed by the four core members of Apparat together with six other exceptional brass players, sopranos Olivia Stahn and Elina Viluma-Helling, and the ensemble Adapter.

Ensemble Apparat is a Berlin-based brass ensemble dedicated to contemporary music. Starting from a core quartet, the ensemble collaborates with composers, sound artists, improvisers, and a group of unique Berlin brass instrumentalists to present works of varying scope and format. Following programs at the Philharmonie Luxembourg and the Berlin Academy of Arts, the ensemble performed at a series of festivals in 2024, including the Ultraschall Festival Berlin, the Eclat Festival Stuttgart, and the Klang Festival Copenhagen, and concluded a series of eight concerts at KM28 in Berlin. As part of the EnsembleKollektiv Berlin, the ensemble performed at the Musikfest and Maerzmusik of the Berliner Festspiele.

Together with sopranos Olivia Stahn and Elina Viluma-Helling, and the Ensemble Adapter, the core members of Apparat are delighted to welcome additional guests Caique Sant'anna, Paul Hübner, Chloë Abbott, Deepa Goonetilleke, Wojciech Jeliński, and Till Künkler to this project.
