On International Holocaust Remembrance Day

A reading from Peter Weiss's "The Aesthetics of Resistance" with prominent artists and actors will commemorate the victims on January 26 at 3 p.m. in the Sophienkirche in Berlin-Mitte as part of the "Culture Against Forgetting" event series (January 24-26, 2025) and in the run-up to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this day, millions of people who were murdered in the Holocaust are remembered worldwide. The reading "The Aesthetics of Resistance – Peter Weiss 100" is based on a text version by Arved Schultze, which was created for the festival at HAU Hebbel am Ufer (2016), curated by Aenne Quiñones.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day was established by the United Nations in 2005 and commemorates the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp on January 27 each year.
