"Bach's Italy" - Baroque Concert with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin & Sarah Hayashi, Soprano

The fact that Johann Sebastian Bach was a master at composing in the “Italian style” is evident not only in the famous concerto that bears this name, but also in many of the works by the Thomaskantor. 

While Italy was the promised land for musicians in the 18th century, it is nevertheless remarkable that Bach himself never set foot in Italy. Bach familiarized himself with the latest musical developments primarily by studying the scores of exemplary works.
