Academy for Ancient Music | Baroque Christmas | Concert

In this concert, AKAMUS performs early Baroque gems with a small ensemble.

In this year's Christmas concert, the Academy of Early Music, AKAMUS, gets us in the mood for the celebration of the birth of Jesus with highly inspired music. Highlights include Heinrich Biber's mystery sonata "Die Verkündigung" (The Annunciation) and touchingly expressive works by Italian composers such as Tomaso Albinoni and Biagio Marini.

Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber (1644-1704): Mystery Sonata No. 1 "The Annunciation"
Johann Rosenmüller (1617-1684): Sonata nona à quinta in D major
Alessandro Stradella (1639-1682): Sinfonia No. 2 for violin, violoncello, and basso continuo in B flat major
Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751): Sonata a cinque op. 2 (Sonata No. 2) in C major
Biagio Marini (1594-1663): Sonata in ecco con tre violini
Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber (1644-1704): Pastorella for violin and basso continuo C. 106
Georg Muffat (1653-1704): Sonata for strings and basso continuo in G major: "Armonico tributo"
